Fluoride Varnish

With the stroke of a brush coated with a new topical fluoride treatment, we can paint a lasting, durable smile for children and adults in a safe, fast, easy, and cost effective manner. Fluoride is a mineral that occurs naturally in many foods and water. Every day, minerals are added to and lost from a tooth's enamel layer through two processes, demineralization and remineralization.

Enamel Layer

Minerals are lost (demineralization) from a tooth's enamel layer when acids -- formed from plaque, bacteria and sugars in the mouth attack the enamel. Minerals such as fluoride, calcium, and phosphate are redeposited (remineralization) to the enamel layer from the foods and waters consumed. Too much demineralization without enough remineralization to repair the enamel layers leads to tooth decay, erosion and/or sensitivity.

Decay Prevention

Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay and sensitivity by making the tooth more resistant to acid attacks from plaque bacteria and sugars in the mouth. It also reverses early decay. In children under six years of age, fluoride becomes incorporated into the development of permanent teeth, making it difficult for acids to demineralize the teeth. Fluoride also helps speed remineralization as well as disrupts acid production in already erupted teeth of both children and adults.

New Development

Fluoride in the form of a sticky varnish is a new development in dentistry. Fluoride varnish treatment is more effective, easier and safer system that previous tray/foam delivery systems. This sticky varnish has a benefit in that it can remain in place for up to 18 hours so its therapeutic effects can be realized and concentrated to its ideal locations.

Each Fluoride varnish application is individually dosed and measured for correct levels, strategically positioned and placed on your teeth to ideally combat destructive demineralization, decay and sensitivity. This pleasing tasting varnish is proven to help repair, strengthen and protect your teeth. Adults as well as children can benefit from this treatment.
